Logitech FF wheel and custom pedal users...Help with online GPL racing!!!

Hi everyone...I just purchased a pair of TSW  (Thomas Super Wheel)pedals to
run with my Logitech Wingman wheel (USB). The pedals come with instructions
for calibration (I would imagine CH pedals work the same way?). Offline the
configs worked fine. Now I am pumped so I go online fire up VROC . Pick a
race join in and wham...I go directly to the calibration screen. Now only
the pedals are being registered with the wheel (steering) not being picked
up at all.

Here are configs:
Windows game controllers-remove all configs
Add 2 axis 2 button joystick
add new config-Logitech wingman ff usb
click logi wheel and set up
no need to calibrate tsw pedals since it does not have buttons
advanced tab...poll with interrupts is UNchecked
go to sim and go through calibration routine with wheel...assign controls
all set

Like I said this was fine offline but when I went to VROC and joined in a
race I went directly to calibration screen and everything was screwed up. I
have the plain old soundcard that came with my pc. I have an L4 card on
order but shipping date is unknown. I do all my racing online. Even if the
GPL would recognize controller it would be a pain to calibrate each time
joining a race. Please help I need your advice...

Its me again...it has nothing to do with online (it seems). The same thing
happened offline. Is there a way to configure the pedals and wheel. Also
when this happens GPL does not recognize the wheel only the pedals. Oh
boy...hope you fellow racers can help!!!

I'm using the LWFF with TSW pedals in GPL.

Here's my setup:

First, both the LWFF and the TSW should be configured to use split-axis.
Next make the TSW controller #1 in Windows Control Panel -- Calibrate it.
Make the LWFF Controller #2 in Windows Control Panel -- Calibrate it.

Then start up GPL, and set your controls (and calibrate) normally.  Both
controllers should be recognized.

Although my LWFF is connected to my PC thru the serial port (not USB), this
should work for you as well.

This works great in GPL, but all other games/sims recognize only the
controller designated as Controller #1, so there's no way to switch from GPL
to something else without fiddling with the Control Panel settings.  Some
people here have had success with this 2 controller set up in RC2000 as
well, although I have not.

Hope this helps.

I am back again...It looks like a tweak I was using with my old setup was
creating some kind of interference. CTFJ 3.20 worked great with my stock
Logitech wheel. When run with my new setup it created controller chaos.

I think I figured it out. Thanks for replying. BTW are there any tweaks you
fellows are using to eliminate the dead zones?

Thanks again...

My solution to the whole LWFF and custom pedal unit is a lot easier.
I simply took the connectors from the potentiometers on my Logitech
pedal unit and connected them directly to the pots on my TSW pedals.
Works flawlessly!  Now I've got the best of both worlds without going
through the hassle of having to set up multiple controllers.  The
whole thing took about five minutes with a soldering gun, even for a
klutz like me <g>. Thanks to Eric Cote for the instructions that you
can find on his website (complete with schematic diagram):

http://simracing.com/simracingmag//eric6.html

Eric does his with CH pedals, but it works exactly the same way for my
TSW pedals.

As for eliminating dead zones, try DXTweak, available from:

http://www.wingmanteam.com/Latest_Software/Gadgets/gadgets.htm#DXTweak

Yes, there seems to be a problem with CTFJ 3.20 and the LWFF.  On the
CTFJ page there's a tech bulletin for getting CTFJ to work properly
with the LWFF, but so far it's still giving me problems, so I've given
up on it for now.

P.S. make sure you've got the latest Logitech software for your unit,
since it gives you the split-axis option.

Good luck,

Ian

Do the pedals have a joystick pass through port?

With my setup I have an LWFF as controller 1 and some CH Pedals with an
Gravis Analog Pro joystick plugged into them as controller 2.  With the
Gravis joystick driver, you can specify that rudder pedals are connected.
GPL then recognises the LWFF as axes 1 to 4 and the CH Pedals as axes 6 and
7.  The CH Pedals only work when callibrated with a joystick plugged into
them.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Phil
