F1Sim pedals and Logitech FF wheel

F1Sim pedals and Logitech FF wheel

I read somewhere down the thread that it's possible in GPL to use different
pedals with your FF wheel. I thought of buying a Logitech FF but I disliked
the pedals too much, and decided to stay with my F1Sim (Digital Edge).
Now I've read this I'm very curious how it works and whether I can also  be
used with SCGT.
It would be an absolute dream setup for me to use that wheel with my current
pedals. How is it done? I'll probably have to disconnect the Digital Edge
wheel from the pedal unit. And then connect the Logitech through my USB
port.Serial port or what? Isn't it so that the Logitech wheels connects to
the pedal base which in turn connects to the serial/usb port. That would
mean that I would have to keep the Logi pedals connected.
I have to ask all these questions since the store where I plan on buying the
wheel will not return my money if I'm not satisfied.

I doubt it.  SCGT seems to recognize only the first and second joysticks,
and at least on my LWFF when in dual-axis mode the brake/pedal are on the
2nd and 3rd joysticks' y-axii.

As for the below.  IF you can run your Digitial Edge pedals as a seperate
unit from the DE wheel and they calibrate, thats good since then they act
just like a CH pedal set was.  All you have to do then is plug in the DE
pedals into the gameport, plug in the LWFF to either the USB or serial port
(your choice, though USB seems to be a bit better than serial in terms of
fps) and calibrate both devices in windows (just for sanity), then calibrate
them in GPL since GPL 1.0 recognizes 11 axii over multiple control devices
(GPL 1.1 supports 16? axii).  You can do the same thing if you can't run the
DE pedals w/o the DE wheel, just plug in the DE wheel/pedal combo and
calibrate both wheel/pedal sets in windows and GPL.  However, if all you are
running is SCGT then this won't even work as SCGT doesn't do a very good job
with controllers.

If you follow the excellent instructions below you will have the added
benefit of using one of the LWFF pedals as a clutch in GPL.

F1Sim pedals and Logitech FF wheel

I made my own splitter cable to use the f1 sim's excellent large solid
metal pedals with my Microsoft ff wheel. The only problem is to have
them on split axis I have to lose FF which hasn't been a problem until
1.1 arrives then I guess I'll just have to put up with same axis pedals.
I included a switch in the splitter so I can have the choice of split
pedals but no ff or ff and single axis and it works perfectly. I had to
use a small program called rbfix. While gpl works perfectly ,other games
are hard to get it all working but if GPL is your thing and your not
scared to use a soldering iron its quite easy.
This is all through the gameport on a sblive. Should be a little easier
for you to do as Chris says using usb. Although u may need to put a
little cable in between the gameport and your pedal base altering the
wiring slightly, and run rbfix.
But it is certainly possible.

even think of that one! :)
