Hello GPL technoheads
Like many sensible people I am discovering the joys of an LWFF coupled with
really good pedals. However I have 2 problems which I am sure some of you
may know how to solve!
Problem 1:
The F1Sim is connected as a custom 4-axis, 2 button joystick to the SBLive!
gameport and the LWFF is USB. Whenever I boot up the Game Controller
settings show the LWFF as OK and the F1Sim as not connected. I have to
remove the LWFF whereupon the F1Sim comes up instantly as OK, and then I add
the LWFF and then both are OK. (LWFF appears in the top position) This is
annoying and inconvenient, and if I forget and start GPL I naturally lose
all my calibration settings, have to exit and go through the above malarkey
+ recalibration. If I an trying to join a race in the last stages of
qualifying it's maddening! I am sure there is a fix for this.
Problem 2:
The LWFF profiler allows me to program buttons, so I have a GPL profile with
a button for shift-R. If  I launch GPL from the desktop or through the
profiler, this works fine, but when GPL is launched through SpyBoy the
programmed button does not work. (Everything else on the wheel works -
pedals, shifters, buttons assigned in GPL) WHY IS THIS??? The profiler
software is loaded at bootup and runs all the time with the gpl profile.
Help please.
Any helpful replies much appreciated

I don't know the answer to this, but I wonder why you want to put
shift-r under a button. It's only for emergency, and when it's needed
you'll have lots of time to move your hand to the keyboard while the
car is flying upside down through the air.
I have programmed by logitec buttons like this:
button 1: look left
button 2: look right
button 3: clutch (only needed at the start, but since the start is so
important it's really important to have it under a button
button 4: wave (not really needed, but in an online race it's quite
handy to have it under a button in case of an emergency warning)

I think that if you put shift-r under a button, it's too temptating to
use it too soon and too often. Try to drive without shift-r. If you
use it, your tires are cold and you'll have a full tank of fuel again,
making driving much harder. You'll lose less time if you learn to
control a spin so that the car is pointing to the front when you've
stopped, and if that didn't work, learn to get the car in the right
direction again asap.

In some cases when you've damaged the car completely, shift-r is quite
handy, but if you don't really need it, don't use it....

The LWFF profiler does not work when you join a game through
Spyboy.Apparently it is a bug they are looking into.

The Profiler shift buttons do work through VROC 2 though, so that is how I'm
joining now. I can never remember what all those buttons do anyway, and keep
getting Pit Out when I'm trying to Shift R after being killed at T1 once
again....

Andre
Thanks for the reply. I use Shift-R when i get booted off by another car,
sometimes ending upside down, and when i bend my suspension or blow my
engine. I often have to press it several times because the track is not
clear. My keyboard is some distance away because of the rig i use, so i
can't keep leaning to get to it and make a good getaway! So you see I find a
programmmable button very handy.

Hi Tim,

This doesn't only happen to you, AFAIK the profiler hasn't worked
for anybody when going through GSB2. The strange thing is that the
profiler will work when joining a race via VROC2... go figure.
