Problem with N2 and Yamaha OPL3sax based Sound Card

by spamicide_gdesign » Wed, 04 Feb 1998 04:00:00

For some reason my friend's machine goes through the setup and sound
card detection process just fine.  Plays the intro with sound but
refuses to play through the opl3sax card.  This card seems to run
other 'legacy' dos games just fine in SB-Pro mode.  When you run sound
config after initial install, it doesn't even detect the card
properly.  Weird considering initial installation played both digital
audio and midi thru it.

Tried this under win95 and as a DOS install, same prob.

Anybody seen this?

Suggest trying a "manual" setup of the soundcard for N2.  The intro
defaults to SoundBlaster's default setup.  The setup routine for the
game may be auto detecting the card as non-standard SoundBlaster
settings.  So the intro will work, but no sound in the sim.
