Logi Brake Squash Ball Fix - Help

I am not sure I am doing this right - I purchased a squash ball, used a
cable tie to attach it (behind) to the brake pedal shaft. When the ball is
pushed down against the base the dampening works, but the ball keeps riding
up the brake pedal shaft so that it no longer is wedged against the base.
What is the trick?

Take a saw and get rid of about a quarter of the ball. Works fine with me.

this is what I did: cut the squashball in half, open the pedal case and
put it under the brakepedal between the two pins that hold the pedal in
place. I had to cut off a bit more from the half ball until it fitted
perfectly.

You miss the point. The idea of using a wire tie to attach the ball outside
the case *avoids opening the case* and thus voiding the warranty.
