TSW and "Squash Ball"

by BRH » Tue, 11 Jan 2000 04:00:00

I've read a number of messages on this newsgroup about the advantages of
using a cut squash ball under the brake pedal of your wheel, in order to
give it better feel.

I have a TSW wheel and pedals (not the TSW2, but I imagine that the
pedals are the same?), and would like to try something like this.  The
trouble is that I don't think that a squash ball would fit properly
under the brake pedal, due to the angle of the pedal's travel.  (You TSW
owners know what I mean.)

Has anyone with a TSW, or TSW2, tried something similar to this, and how
did it work out?

Use whatever kind of ball fits, or build a backstop....

I have a TSW stock ,I cut up a mouse pad and folded it a couple times,a piece
of duct tape to hold it together and wedged it in the plastic slot about
halfway in.The plastic holds it in place. This was originally a quick fix but I
got use to the feel and it last's for awhile.

I own a T2, and the way I solved the pedal problem was to drive
a large***through a plank so it would stick out of the
other side, then wrap the squash ball in sticky tape a couple
of times (the complete ball, not only one half of it) and then
"srcew the ball on the plank, placing the plank so that the
forward edge of the pedal base would slide under it, with the
plank secured against the wall.

Works perfect, and I havent changed a brake spring in years ;-)
