Squash ball brake assistance quest

I wanted to try the squash ball trick on my MSFF because I keep locking up
the brakes so I bought a ball and cut it in half. Unfortunately the pedal
was almost impossible to press due to the resistance of the ball .

I've never played squash and don't know anything about the different grades
of ball so could you please give me advice on a suitable ball to use before
I waste another couple of quid.

Thanks

Andrew

for some reason your second paragraph made me laugh. I hope no one knows the
different grades of balls... :)

anyhow, I used one of those really soft air filled doggy chew balls and
taped it to my brake with electrical tape to my LWFF. Different pedals, but
I hope this helps.

spambtinternet.com says...

Glad I'm not the only one that chuckled over this one.. ;) (but it was
over the thought of considering the technical merits of different speed
balls to best suit *** pedals)

Been awhile since I've played squash, what spot ball did you get? If I
were to make a decision (and bare in mind that squash balls may have
changed in the 6 years since I last played), I'd go for a double red
spot. They're a faster ball and more '***y', should give a little more
than say a yellow or white spot.

Cheers,
Rod.

I actually never even caught the innuendo, I just thought it would quite
nerdy, if someone came on here and explained the difference between "squash
balls from the 80's that you can get in some specialty stores, and the so
called pro balls of today." Or something like that.

No ball jokes were intended. :)

ok well looks like "Rod Prince" went on to confirm that there are different
grade squash balls and that the have color dot classification.

So sorry to Rod about the nerdy thing. :)

Nothing nerdy about playing squash, but then I would agree on the 'nerdy'
classification if I was to rate squash balls by their ability to create
realistic pedals, and not solely by their speed on the court. ;)

No offence taken.

Cheers,
Rod.
