Brake Pedal Squash Ball

Brake Pedal Squash Ball

Before I drive or call all over the city, does anyone know of a U.S. retail
chain that stocks squash balls. I'm desperate for a "secret weapon."

Also if anyone has had particular success fitting one to a MS FF, I 'd love
to hear the details!

Thanks!

I use a racquetball.  Those should be available from
any sporting goods store.

How about Sports Authority (in CT)... they have most anything  there.
And please add me to the MS FF "squash setup" list, sounds pretty
cool!

Dear Jack
A squash ball under the brake pedal is indeed a secret weapon. One cur
precisely in half fits without any need for glue very neatly under the brake
pedal of an MSFF. It gives just the right amount of travel and a very
natural feel. I offered to send the 5th Doctor a ball, but he found
something at Toy R Us for $2. I will gladly mail you a squash ball ( the
best kind: Dunlop yellow dot no less!) if you email me with a mailing
address. I will even pre-slice it so you will have a spare part !

You mean those pre-tested setups don't qualify as secret weapons?  Well.....try
a racquetball.  I use the Penn;  "Pro" model, of course!  And it helps if you
paint racing stripes on it.

I've put a squash ball into my TSW Sport - works very well indeed but is by no
means a secret weapon - I still lock up all over the shop. I know of another
GPLer who is using a sponge with his MS FF wheel and apparently it works very
well.
Cheers,
Paul

I figured that "pre-tested setup" was just that. Intentionally designed to
move me from "slow" to "pathetic".

So when are you coming clean with the rest of those secret weapons, Rocket
Man?

A few questions I have:

1. What color stripes are best for a high speed course like Spa where top
speed is critical? I noticed in the GPL_AI.INI file, the key setting

ball_stripe_color = green

So is green the color you'd recommend in order to compete with the AI?

2. How many games should you play with the ball before placing it under the
brake pedal, for optimum results?

3. Do you recommend that a full 1/32" be removed from the diameter of the
ball
for best feel or is the more common 1/64" t*** acceptable?

4. And what about those nerf bars?

Dont know about "sponge" but I use a block of high density foam from the
trash of a local furniture maker. Works fine, nice and even without needing
too much pressure.

So this makes GPL spongeworthy!

I think Paul is referring to me, if not sorry Paul :)
The sponge does work initially, but unfortunately after a few days it
becomes, well, too spongy (sorry), so I have today upgraded to a Dunlop
yellow dot squash ball complete with green go-faster stripe. I was wondering
though why is the yellow dot the best for GPL, according to my box it is the
slowest ball available, I want the fastest :)
I need to gain a few secs a lap, so could some of the squash experts give us
an update on the best ball for GPL :)

Duhhh, about time I checked back here...............

>I figured that "pre-tested setup" was just that. Intentionally designed to

Well........you "could" just tuck your tail and climb back into
that...that...RED car.  Not so demanding on the motor neurons, that one.

Man?

Rocket man!  Nobody's called me that since Becky in High School. Er.......don't
ask.
As for secret weapons, I'm still experimenting.  After Friday, though, I have
ruled out the controversial pre-race consumption of Shiner Bock. :-)

I keep a complete selection on hand, personally, and try to match the color of
the trophy girl's shoes.  Comes in ahh......handy, post race, you see!  But if
you must go with only one, RED seems to be the odds-on favorite.
As to aerodynamics, surely you know stripe width is the issue, not color.  Back
to school for YOU, mate.

brake pedal, for optimum results?

Games?  You mean people actually use these smelly things for something other
than GPL?  How odd!

for best feel or is the more common 1/64" t*** acceptable?

How I trim my balls, sir, is simply no affair of yours.

Can't say about bars, but I DID try a nerf BALL under the throttle.  Positively
sensous under a bare foot, but unraceable; just too distracting.

Cheerio,

well im using half a green dot dunlop... seems to greatly improve the feel
... absolutely useless for sbk though ... but easy to slip in and out ... i
think the green is medium slow ... and as we all know the fastest way to
race is slow in fast out .... soooo it would make sense to use as slow ball
to go fast right ???

make haste slowly
