Ah the best netcode out there. I see the minimum requirements on controls
are a wheel and pedals. No more joystick drivers :-)

How about drivers that use auto shifting instead of manual. Oh, and they
don't allow roof riders too, right?

You know, after 3 years I can't answer the question about auto.  I'll have
to look :)

Roof Riding is no more.  You race for real in iRacing :)

I haven't seen any options for automatic shifting.  I think it's
manual only.

I actually asked Dustin McGrew about you a couple weeks ago.  After BETA
testing on iRacing and seeing alot of the old TEN racers around - I was
going through a bunch of my old sim racing items and came across a photo
you posted on the old forum and was wondering what you were up to.  If I
recall correctly - you gravitated to flight sims didn't you?

        Hi, Tim.
There is one really "important" thing that I would like to sort out.
I noticed that some ratings depend on the number of corners you pass
by in a race (so that ratings from oval and road courses can be compared). I
am wondering do they count an oval course as two or as four corners? Can you
help me with this, this information would really calm my soul, : ).

Yep, it has been quite some time, since I have had a racing sim on my
system, or one of my wheel's hooked up to it.
I guess I just kind of eventually got burned out. I picked up GTR2 one day
while I was at Best Buy a few months ago, and haven't even bothered to
install it, just can't seem to get motivated.

I modded my Cougar with a gimball mod and hall sensors, and got into flight
sims ( offline ), and have been having a lot of fun with them, mainly FSX
right now, just lazily flying around the countryside enjoying the scenery.

I will admit, I looked around the iRacing site and was intrigued, so will be
following it's progress, but am not quite ready to plunge into something
like that yet...

Good to hear from ya, glad to see your still around and racing!

I'm not sure. There is a different mathematical formula used for
different types of tracks... So any answer would probably work out
being wrong. Dave and John did all the mathematical stuff. ;)

I see you (Don) on a lot of the groups.....:-). I have been using FS for
many years and also involved in racing sims since the Hawaii days. THAT was
really expensive compared to iRacing's prices. It was not feasible for very
long in my household.......:-). I am retired now, so I have some time to
give iRacing a go and will probably go for a year to see how it all
progresses. Many of the FS folks are also involved in the tech groups
because of the horsepower that FS has always taken to run it well.

You mean after all these years of sim racing I would be forced to learn to
shift properly? That puts me out of the running. I mostly use auto shifting
so I can concentrate better on not hitting other cars on the track. What's
the big deal about auto shifting? People say manual shifting gives you an
advantage, although I think that is arguable because  F1 cars have semi-
auto shifting. Roof riding is another matter though and should be banned in
all online racing games.
