Gp2 is very playable today. It was done in a era before 3d acceleration,
and it's the only main gripe. I would still love to see 3d acceleration for
it today. It uses only your Processor power to run it, and it was the main
problem. Even today with a P3-500mhz it wouldn't run perfectly with
everything on (and sky) at Monaco on the start in 19th spot and TV view on
the side pod. It would still be around 150% of Processor occupancy.
It's the main gripe (graphics). I play with everything on in VGA here. The
driving feeling is probably the best on the market as from today, just
behind GPL. It's different, you can really feel the car, feel the weight
shifting under braking or acceleration.
If we take out that it modeled a now almost "vintage" era of F1 (early 90's)
where the driving style was different of today, it's a very in-depth driving
simulation of F1. FYI it sold over 2.5million copies David btw from the PC
data I have up here. There is tons of add-ons, probably the best racing
software for add-ons on the market. Better than Nascar Racing 2.
You can recreate any season of F1, by downloading those complete sets of
tracks, car shapes, and car performance (you can change them with editors on
the web).
But of course, I agree that MGPRS2 is superior, but nobody can talk about F1
sims without having a copy of it :)
