6x86 vs. Pentium vs. 75Mhz bus for Gp2 thoughts

Folks,

I am currently playing GP2 on a 5x86-120 machine.  I would like a few
more textures and fps in svga and thus want to upgrade my machine.

Here are some toughts...

Cyrix 6x86 166+ with Tyan Tomcat I
Pentium 133/166 with Tyan Tomcat I
Pentium 150 or 133 o/c with 75Mhz capable VX board at 2 x 75(I can get a
VX board that supports o/c chipset to 75Mhz here in the UK).  I could
also try 2.5x75 with a p150 and p166 (or p133 stepping c) with 2.5
multiplier.

I think that the 75Mhz bus will make a real difference to the game, but
is not guaranteed to work with the pentum. I have 60ns EDO which is also
supposed to be OK at 75MHz. The VX board is cheap and i have a P166 I
can experiment with... maybe I'll buy one and try it out.

The 6x86 166+ is at a good price, Gp2 is not supposed to use the FPU
much so it seems a good choice.

Has anyone got any gp2log.txt values (type gp2 log:on when running game)
for the 6x86? I'd be grateful if you could post/mail them.

I wonder what will happen on 1st August with Intels prices...?

Cheers
Richard

Well, I think it is a god choice 'coz my 6x86-P166+ gives a gp2 log:on
rating of...

        357 !!

So, think about that...
