Any suggestion for the best F1 simulator at the moment with real teams, drivers
and tracks?  I checked out the F1RS demo last year and was quite impressed.
The physics still left more to be desired though.  So what's your pick at the
moment?

BTW, what's your pick for the best F1 style force feedback steering wheel
designed for F1 transmission and feels like driving a real racing car?

Can you wait about 1 month?  "Grand Prix 3" is set to be released in that
lapse of time, and it really looks to be the future reference for realistic
modern Formula 1 simulators.

Does it have any demo available for download?

Exactly what proof do you have of this? Simply being GP3
is not enough IMHO.

Check F1 2000 by EA Sports.

I think that's "tifoso", unless you're schizophrenic . . .

Someone was trying to tel me that F1 2000 is easy compared to MGPRS2.
Well, last night I played around with the undocumented sensitivity
settings in the patch and by adjusting these you can make it about as
hard as GPL if you want. F1 2000 is definately the top notch F1 sim at
this moment in time.

Oh-oh... It looks like you're setting yourself up to receive a truckload of
"TOLD you so!" "NOW you see!" "Didn't I tell you?" posts at the start of August
Why make yourself so vulnerable? <G>

No I'm not. If it turns out to be good, then great... But simply claiming
that it will be good because it is called GP3 is nuts. Once it is released
it may be fine.

BTW, the "Best F1 sim for a Tifosi" would be one where a ferrarri
always won :-)

Same goes for F1 2000 though...the non patched version was well maybe
equivalent to what's already out there, but then just like SCGT there's a
miracle patch that makes it realistic...how are we supposed to know it
really is that good?  And why can't EA release a product like Papy, MGI, or
Crammond which is solid right out of the box?

Because of the way that Crammond had historically dealt with Processor
Occupancy, I think all of the GP sims he has produced have huge
faults. Simply maxing out your Processor Occupancy to get faster
lap times is not cool. If GP3 has this um "feature" then it is doomed.

Wait a moment here... are the laptimes in GP2 depenant on the
processor used? I know that GP2 run in slowmo when the processor
occupancy got overloaded, but I never thought it would influence the
lap times...

Yep. Same with World Circuit. I think Dave Masten is the real
expert with that though. I seem to remember he posted some
huge thing about it here in the NG several years ago.

A lot of the "top" racers would deliberately turn up all the graphics so
that the occupancy would be over 300%.  This would enable one to drive in
super slow motion, which makes it pretty easy to hit all your brake
points, apexes, etc.  I thought that these guys were the biggest bunch of
weenies - to deliberately exploit a flaw in the design of the game AND to
take away the whole fun of the driving experience just so that they could
tell their mommies how fast they were.  There was a big controversy about
this in the LFRS league.

When I played on my lowly P100, I ran the damn thing in VGA mode.  I would
rather have it look like ***and still feel like I was driving an F1 car.

Hopefully, Crammond has rethought this approach.  With regards to online
play, either he has been forced to adopt the more common (and more
sensible) approach to drop frames rather than expand time, or everybody in
the race would have to synch to the expanded time of the lowest common
denominator (yech).

I agree with you there...I for one am expecting to be let down by GP3 for
some of the same reasons (I mean it took him till 1999 to put 3d hardware
support in?  Nuts...).  But I'm hoping my negativity will be wrong because
that will make it all the better...although I'm sure my negativity will find
the glaring problems. Can't wait to see Papy's F1 sim. :-)
