GPL: Mouse Locks Up At Start Up Screen

I have a Micro Inovations scroller that locks up at the starup screen. I can't
start
the game or even make choices. I ended all tasks before starting the game
leaving
nothing running in the task bar. I also started the game from a start menu
ie:shortcut. Please help I want to try that GPL converter out damn it !

My brother in law had this problem. Randy Cassidy (of Papyrus) informed us that,
at start up, GPL looks around for connection devices (eg Modems and Network cards)
for it's multiplayer mode. Due to some dodgy stuff in Windoze we had to set up his
modem twice and when we remove the dodgy entry, voila, all was fixed.
Another possibility is the video drivers for your video card or even, as you say,
your Micro Inovations scroller, whatever the hell that is. :-)
Cheers,
Paul

Just a hint : If you have a Voodoo2 card it may simply be the Glide driver. Check
which version you have by cliking on the glide2x.drv in your windows\system
directory. If the version is 2.54. You may have problems. Go to  www.shadows.com
then copy the 2.53 version into your sierra\gpl directory.
If you have a Voodoo 1 send me anote as there are other possibilities.
For what it's worth .....

I read about that on the Sierra site and was sure this would fix the problem. I
put the glide .dll in the gpl directory but it did nothing. I can't understand
what the problem could be.
I'm determined to get this up and running.
Thanks.

If I read this right it's a mouse with a wheel to scroll windows up and
down with it. If that is the case please help him and let me know what
the problem is because I have the exact same problem with mine.

Yes it is a scroller mouse but I ended the driver for it in the task menu so
the scrolling feature is disabled.
