Ever since I installed Windows 98 and converted my hard drive to FAT32
my F1 won't work anymore.  I have tried re-installing, re-patching,
re-everything,etc., but it won't work anymore. When I launch the screen
turns black,(as it always did right before the opening video sequence),
and stays there.  I have to alt-f4 to get out. Can someone please help
as it is my favorite game.  Thankyou.

PS- I tried it on a friends computer with a freshly installed and FAT
converted win98 and no luck there either.

Nothing to be done about this...
Just have to wait until they release a patch...

The manual that accompanies Win 98 actually states that some programs
that ran under F16 on W95 may not operate under F32 in W98.
Now that you have installed F32 you cannot uninstall W98 either....you
will need to reformat the HDD.

That's a relief.. I've been trying for days now to get it to work on my
computer (running w98) and thought it was just me.. But I seem to remember
someone posting somewhere that it runs fine under Windows 98 (at least on
their computer). I downloaded a warez copy (for "educational" purposes!) and
thought the rip might be screwy..

When I run the executable, I get a black screen, then after about ten
seconds, get returned to file explorer..

I formatted my HD with FAT32 when I got my computer four months ago, but
everything else works w. no problems.. Maybe it's not a problem with the
FAT32, but with Windows 98 itself.

I talked to a UBI Tech and he told me to come here for answers. He also
stated there will be no more patches for this game. I told him I called them
for support and he told me that they dont have the equipment necessary to
test different setups (computers). I then told him that I was planning on
taking it back for a refund and he said .... Good Luck.

I converted to win98 and Fat32 on Saturday and have been playing F1RS
with NO problems since then. This is using the latest patch and 2
Monster2 vid cards. I have monster sound m80 also. Note that this was
an upgrade over a working win95 os and not a new install. The only
thing I have problems with now is ICR2. It will not work in rendition
or software mode.  Guess we all are chasing something..

I'm running F1RS D3D and Glide versions (1.09) on Win98 with no problems.

Heh. though to be fair, i don't think you'll find win98 supported anywhere on
the box, but reat assured, I'm having no problems with the MSDN Win98 Release.

It's not real for everyone... F1RS is running just fine under Win98
here.

Not for F1RS's sake tho... it runs fine here under Win98 and FAT32. I'm
using the full install and the 1.09 patch, and having no problems at
all.

Since I respect your opinion more than those people with
F1RS/W98 problems, I guess I'll be upgrading soon :-)
