F1RS: Patches ands Pedals

by Marc Collin » Mon, 23 Mar 1998 04:00:00

I have a strange problem with F1RS (UK version).  If I apply any or all of
the 1.03, 1.05 and 1.07 patches, something screws-up the pedal
set-up/calibration on my T3.  Basically, I am left with a situation that the
brakes are constantly on even without depressing the brake pedal--and--I
have to depress the brake pedal all the way to the floor to get the engine
to idle normally in neutral as the gas pedal too acts as though it is being
depressed (about half-way) even when it is not.

The pedal response is normal in the unpatched game.  The Win95 and
Thrustmaster control panel configuration shows as fine and works perfectly
in every other racing game (including those that use DirectX5).

Is anyone else experiencing this or a similar problem?  Anything we can do
about it?  Could it have anything to do with using the DirectInput patch--I
doubt it since the original F1RS works fine and everything else works fine,
but maybe UbiSoft tried to fix the deadzone in their own way and it is
conflicting??

Please help if you can!

Is your T3 the new Formula1/Nascar wheel? My T23 worked fine on every
F1RS patch.

Hi,

same thing happened to me when applying the patch v1.07. No problem,
just go to the configuration/steering(where you set which keys/axis)
you'll use to drive). At the brake/accelerate section, there should be
Axis Y down /Axis Y up (and not Axis 3 down/Axis 3 up like I had and so
do you probably). You set Axis Y by clicking on the button next to the
window where it says Axis 3 (up/down) and then push the brake. Sometimes
this doesn't work for the first time and you'll probably have to repeat
it several times to get it right (it took me about a min or 2 to get it
right). Then eventually everything should be ready for racing ;)

Yes, the T3 is the Formula1/Nascar Pro wheel.  Do you have a 2 or a 3?

Thanks for the helpful suggestion, but mine says now and always had/does say
Axis Y.  I have had no problems setting-up the buttons on the wheel for gear
shifting or with the steering.  It is only the braking and acceleration that
has been problematic DESPITE everything showing up properly in the Win95
Control Panel, the Thrustmaster ProPanel, and in the F1RS configuration
screen itself.  Man this is getting irritating...!!!
