F1RS Patches Wreck T3 Pedals

F1RS Patches Wreck T3 Pedals

by Marc Collin » Fri, 20 Mar 1998 04:00:00

I have a strange problem with F1RS (UK version).  If I apply any or all of
the 1.03, 1.05 and 1.07 patches, something screws-up the pedal
set-up/calibration on my T3.  Basically, I am left with a situation that the
brakes are constantly on even without depressing the brake pedal--and--I
have to depress the brake pedal all the way to the floor to get the engine
to idle normally in neutral as the gas pedal too acts as though it is being
depressed (about half-way) even when it is not.

The pedal response is normal in the unpatched game.  The Win95 and
Thrustmaster control panel configuration shows as fine and works perfectly
in every other racing game (including those that use DirectX5).

Is anyone else experiencing this or a similar problem?  Anything we can do
about it?  Could it have anything to do with using the DirectInput patch--I
doubt it since the original F1RS works fine and everything else works fine,
but maybe UbiSoft tried to fix the deadzone in their own way and it is
conflicting??

UbiSoft has not/will not respond to repeated requests from me regarding this
issue.

Any information or help would be greatly appreciated.

Marc.

Is a T3 a Thrustmaster Nascar Pro?  I have a Nascar Pro and the UK version
of F1RS patched to 1.07 and it works fine, so I don't think that it is a
general problem.  I use the pedals in combined mode and at 100% sensitivity.
Are you using the nocd patch?  I've heard of controller problems when using
this patch.

I also use the deadzone patch without any problems.  I haven't heard of
anyone else having your problem, but you may want to make a post to the
www.f1racingsim.com message board.

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, the T3 is the Nascar Pro.  I am not using the
No-CD patch.  Glad you are not experiencing this.  I cannot figure out what
could be wrong because the original unpatched F1RS works fine and every
other DirectX game that uses the wheel and pedals works perfectly!  The
patches for F1RS contain only two things: a new main executable and new
DirectInput files...which is, of course, what affects the controller.  I
tried running the latest executable with earlier versions of the DirectInput
files, but the game simply crashes before starting, so that ain't an
option...

I have posted a message at the site you recommended as well as at UbiSoft's
F1RS site.  I think some people are having a similar problem except it is
the steering that is affected...!?!?!
