F1rs: FIX for wheel and pedals - gp1ch.cnf (0/1)

Here's how to get your wheel to work with separate pedals (in my case
GP1 and CH pedals, but it should work for most combinations).
(Since I use the swedish version of Windows95, I've tried to translate
menus and buttons to english. Don't get confused if I'm not using
EXACTLY the same words as your W95 uses.)

1) Go to the controlpanel
2) Click on game devices
3) Remove your current joystick/wheel
4) Click on 'add'
5) Go to 'custom'
6) Choose '2 axles' (important!), '2 buttons' and 'racecar controller'
7) Name it something and then click 'OK'
8) Now click on add again and choose '2-axle steering device with 2
buttons'. (If you use the CH     pedals you have to put the switch on
the pedals to plane-mode)
9) Click OK
10) Now calibrate your 2 devices
11) Now put the file "gp1ch.cnf", enclosed here, in your F1rs dir
under \Saved\Configs
12) Start F1rs
13) Go to 'load' and then the config tab. Load 'GP1CH'.
14) Should work now, works great for me! (It's possible that some of
your other options have changed, just change them back to the way you
lika them)

Thanks for the tip Karl, actually I've got the exact same setup as yours &
was wondering too how to make it work...

FYI I phoned Ubi about the problem & they were aware of that bug. It should
be corrected in the patch to come, so we won't have to fiddle with the
joystick configs anymore ! :-)

Hi Karl.

I did as you instructed. I have a CH Virtual Pilot Pro and the CH Pro
Pedals. But it did not work:

this happened:

Calibrating the CH Pedals resulted in an error message: calibration
not completed, of cours: the pedals have only 1 axis. But I COULD
finish this screen,

So I did.

I could  not get to the load button!! The flag cursor floats just
above it on my screen. I also saved 2 other dummy control setups but
they could not be saved either. I COULD see them when trying to save a
fourth one.

So.... please help!!

Another tip !

Choose "Thrustmaster T1/T2 without adapter" as game controller, set your CH
pedals to "Plane"-mode an it wil work !

The driver is actually a "software" adapter that transfers the pedal inputs
to "Joystick 1, axis y". This discovery can be usefull in other racing games
using directInput. The only problem is that speeder act as brake and vice
versa (not a problem in F1RS) so beware when you drive your "real" car ! ;-)
I have asked CH technical support to make a correct driver, but it seems
that they don't care ?!

Best regards,
Lars, Denmark

Great! I use the wheel/pedal combo for racingsims and a
throttle/joystick/pedals combo for flightsims. It's one really boring
procedure everytime I switch games, having to fiddle around with these
configs... Do you know what more the patch will fix? Framerate in
replays, lower volume for opponent cars, an option to skip the intro,
faster menues? Anyway it's great to see they're doing a patch so soon.

That's odd... I don't get that message. I just calibrate the one axis
and push button 3 or 4 on my wheel to continue. Maybe that's the
trick, button 3 or 4?

That's really strange.. I can't explain this. Have you tried it on
different menues? On some menues the light next to the load-button is
red and you can't use it there, the light has to be yellow, but you
probably knew that. Perhaps reinstalling the game would help?

I tried that early on and it didn't work for me. The setup in F1rs
recognised it but when I started the game the pedals didn't work.

To get the CH Pedals working correctly (right pedal = gas, left pedal =
brakes)
in games that won't let you choose which joystick movement is connected
to  which
game function, do the following:

You have to open the pedals (remove the plate where you put your feet).
When you
look at the pots you have to switch the two outside wires (no soldering
needed, they
are just plugged on, but be carefull not to pull too hard).

This also changes the behaviour in rudder mode. I can get used to that,
but
braking with the left foot is baaaaad...
