I usually really enjoy cart races, but today's just blew. It was so boring,
the track was coming apart, drivers couldnt stay on the track, and they
barely used any on-board cameras.... is it just me?

It's just you.  This race was more F1 like than the usual rockem sockem
champcar races. enjoy it for what it was.

I thought the same thing.  A friend of mine who's not into racing stuck
around today to watch it and I felt like apologizing afterwards.  :-/

No, sorry, the race was immensely BORING. With little grip even in the
groove, and no grip at all off the racing line, the race was mostly a
parade. "F1 like" means that most of the passing happens in the pits. Dull,
dull, dull.

Now that finish in the Winston Cup race at Atlanta had me standing up
yelling for the last six laps or so.

Sunday was the unhappy reverse of what I had expected, but at least there
was one race worth watching.

Starting to turn into F1. ;)

Micky Mouse circuits always make for boring racing.

I *kinda* agree.  The track was far too slick and was in too poor condition to
put on any sort of real race.  But, it was still a decent race with the Zanardi
incidents and Brack driving his balls off at the end, etc.  Better than an F1
race anyday still!!

Compared to other CART races in the past and the NASCAR race on the same day,
yes, it was.  But don't let it kill CART for ya, Long Beach is next!!!

I actually did like the track, but if they could just fix the surface it would
be great!

bad race, too many drivers worried about points for the qualifying rounds in
Long Beach.

And Long Beach should be their first race.

It was a shame, really - the track was a bit of grip and two chicanes shy of
being decent.  Unfortunately, somebody decided those two silly chicanes were
necessary (why?) - they effectively removed two of the three realistic
passing spots, and the lack of grip negated the third.

If they revised the track for next year, it might make for a good race.  As
it was, it was a major snore-fest, with the very-F1-like "most of the passes
happening in the pits".

Yep.  I lucked out while changing channels and caught the last 14 laps of
the Atlanta race.  Now THERE was a finish!  Was I the only misty-eyed one
watching that?  Anyway, I might have to do that more often in the future and
tune in for the last dozen laps or so of Winston Cup races.

No offense to anyone in Mexico, but the tv coverage was really poor.  Hardly
any replays or onboard camera shots.  There were several incedents the
commentators on espn saw but which the cameras never spotted.

I don't know about suck, but Kenny Brack was doing a great impression
of a hot lapper who doesn't know how to race with others around.

A closer analysis will reveal that there were many passes during the
race, but the TV coverage we got showed just about none.  I'm used to
bad directing during race broadcasts, but this one was particularly
bad.

That was the first CART race I've ever watched. Much more passing than F1
even (from prev comments) if it wasn't as much as usual. I think the Mexican
TV directors and related to the Malay's  :-) and leave much to be desired.

Good to see a fellow NZer, Scott Dixon, at the front in his first race for a
few laps (yeah OK after a caution!). Don't know why he dropped back so many

"qualifying points", anyone care to enlighten me?
