Hi all,

I have a stuttering problem when playing N4 and CMR2. Every 2 - 3 seconds
there is a stutter while driving along. In N4 the frame rate counter shows
35+ FPS yet there is still a stutter every 2 - 3 seconds. Even when I drop
my detail settings down it makes no difference. In CMR2 the stuttering is a
little bit more random. I've even tried turning off the force feedback in my
wheel to no avail. Also, there seems to be no extra HD activity when this
happens. My system specs are outlined below.

P3 700
256 Mb Ram
6G HD
8G HD
V5 5500 Video Card
10/100 Network Card (connected to second PC using TCP/IP)
Logitech Wingman Formula Force Wheel (USB)
Win 98 SE

System specs all look ok, but you were correct in thinking that something
may be running in the background causing the hiccups. It may be a TSR and
not necessarily something that has to access the HD. Do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and
see what is running in the background. All you will really need is Explorer
and Systray, anything else that is running could be the possible culprit.

The only other *week* link I see is the outdated/disontinued video card.
