N4: Screen-"stuttering" online..

Hi chaps,

I've recently upgraded to an AMD system and sometimes i experience screen
stuttering online at Sierra.com. This never happened before on my old
[Intel] system.
There could be a framerate drop happening while this goes on - but I cannot
spot it - as im getting good FPS when it occurs (40+))
Does anyone know how to fix this?  Or what causes it?

I've never tried to swtay on track for a long time to see if it goes away,
as it's so damn irritating to watch / listen too

I've also experiensed looooooong loading times when i hit some of hte
buttons in N4 (20-25 seconds load time when i try to load "opponents
manager" ??)

Except for a re-install of Win98 most of my system is the same as i had
before the upgrade.

My system specs:
AMD Athlon 1,33ghx 266mhz CPU
MSI KT7 Turbo-R M/B with internal soundcard/chip
384 mb PC133 ram
32mb Voodoo 4500 w/latest beta-drivers
Win98SE and DX 8.0a (I think!)
Hard disks: IBM HDD and Western Digital
Modem: Dynalink PCI ISDN adapter w/latest "WDM" drivers
CDRW + DVD

Make sure you have the lastest VIA Drivers. The problem
is most likely sound chip related. Try playing with the acceleration
for the sound chip. Not sure what you will find it under I have
a setting for my sound blaster live that allows me to change it.

In your N4 folder open the file rend_d3d.ini and change the "TextureSetSize"
line to read:

TextureSetSize=12582912

This has something to do with highres texturing, all I know it works on my
V5500.

i have switched back and forth this past month from an Intel to AMD to
Intel and with all the various  extra drivers etc needed, I would strongly
suggest you back up your needed windows data and deltree C"\windows.  Then
re-install windows and all your various programs...your system will thank
you.

I believe this will solve the problem. I had the same thing and this fixed
it.

[Task]
max_grabs_per_update_w_track_view=2      ; Max frames/update with track view

Go to your core.ini and find near the bottom what I printed above. the
original is set to 4. Switch to 2.
