The products of Redline in New Zealand look pretty fabulous to me, esp.
the billet aluminum appearing pedal system.  Colin something-or-other
makes each system by himself, as I understand it, and his work appears
to me to be that of a real artist.  The best is the price; I think it
is about $400 delivered to the US!  The only problem is that I think he
has to put you on a waiting list, as he can only crank them one at a
time.  From what I've seen, they are worth the wait.  If I can get the
URL, I'll repost it.   Good luck!   Glen Priest

That's my question - what are your suggestions for BEST wheel and pedals at
any cost?  I know that ECCI are no longer selling to home users, so that is
not an option.  I am NOT interested in force feedback, and I don't like the
CH pedals (not enough resistance).  I've tried the Logitech FF wheel, but
the pedals are hopeless.

Suggestions?  I am located in the USA and am ready to spend what it takes
for the right equipment.  Thanks for any and all helpful replies.

Dang!  I wrote a long message  (for me; I'm a slow typist!)  earlier
today, and somehow it didn't fly!  In any case you may want to take a
look at the Redline heel and pedals  from Nigel Nichols in New Zealand.
The stuff is gorgeous, and Nigel sounds like a real winner to me.  He
appears to be a real artist, and is way behind on his orders, but from
his writing on his site and the pics of his stuff, I'd say it was worth
the wait.  He has an update on his progress posted about Thursday, and
tells each order he is working on and how it is coming along.  He is
running it single-handedly, I think,  and is cranking them out as fast
as he can!  I may have to get my name on his list in the end, even
though he doesn't have FF implemented yet; my Logi  can't last forever!
Also, I think his price is about $400 US, delivered to your door!
Amazing!   Glen Priest

Hyperstimulator.  All the other equipment people have recommended are
undoubtedly good quality gear but when you use them you are still
sitting at your computer desk, in an office chair.  For sheer
immersion value, you can't beat sitting in the right position, with
the right ergonomics.  Plus the Hyper wheel has more lock than other
I'm aware of, about 370 degrees from lock to lock and the pedals have
suberb feel.

There is an ECCI CDS2 for sale via E-Bay. I had one and it was a great unit. I use the CDS4000 now and am very happy with it. Don't be afraid to buy a used one as they hold up extremely well.

I can only second that, I have the pedals and they are just amazing, if
his wheels is anything like his pedals, you won't be disappointed

I've never tried Hyperstimulator or anything like that, but if money is
not a concern, then I guess Hyperstimulator would be something to look
at as well

Beers and cheers

Best Wheel and Pedals At Any Cost?

I have thought for a long time that if an out-of-date racing kart
chassis were bought and the gamer's wheel and pedal wiring were
incorporated  into the kart and the monitor lcated correctly, one
actually WOULD be seated in a racing device.  I can't see how a plywood
mock-up would be convincing for me.  Someone clever could surely come
up with something that would look and feel right and still not cost
several thousands of dollars the way some of the more elaborate
simulators do.
I used to have a bookmark from "Tova" a young man from Italy, I
believe, who had made a pretty realistic mock-up and mounted his
controls and monitor to it.
I wonder why we couldn't use PVC tubing to simulate the interior
of a so-called "space-frame" chassis. Remember the "Birdcge" Maserati,
anyone?   Glen Priest

Bravo!!  And you are surely a lucky man!  The first one I ever saw was
at Stout Field in Indianapolis during the summer of 1960 or'61 I think;
I didn't see another one until just a few  years ago at Mid-Ohio at the
Vintage Auto  Races. And what incredibly fast monsters we thought they
were in the early 60's!

Good idea,
but please don't use PVC :-(

Nothing can beat a welded steel contruction :-)
Ask for furniture tube, ***y cheap.

Jens

BTW: What does "I cannot weld" mean? ;-)
