Help with new 3DFX reference drivers

Guys,
    I have a 12MB Diamond Monster 3DII card and decided to try the new
3DFX reference drivers. Well, they work fine in all of my games except
NASCAR 1999. The framerate while in a big pack of cars in NR1999 is
terrible. Before I installed these drivers NR1999 ran perfect on my PII
400. Is there a fix or should I re-install Diamond's older drivers?? I'd
hate to re-install the older drivers because the "washed out" color is
now gone in all of my 3DFX games:-)
