The new V2 driver works very well with my Maxigamer and GPL.

It works perfectly for me  (Diamond Monster VII 12MB). In fact it's a real
improvement over the 2.53 driver. The colors are much "fuller" (not that
pale anymore).

D'load it immediately!

I noticed the same thing!  With the 2.53 drivers it was a lot harder to
see the racing line (i.e. at monza in the heavy braking areas like before
the Lesmos or Parabolica)  With 2.56 all of that has cleared up.

I went back to the previous drivers, much preferring the more pastel, subtle
colours that I was used to.

The new brighter colours (I sound like a soap commercial!!) do nothing for
me.....they look too "cartoony", IMO.

But don't be swayed by others opinions.......this is a personal thing and
you should decide for yourself.

The drivers worked fine on my Monster2 but I found that they didn't diplay
one color properly in Lucas Art's Pod Racer or Phantom menace game. I had
to revert back to 2.54 with the 2.53 dll file in GPL. Those were the only
two games I saw that had a problem with them though. Anyone else see a
messed up color in anything with the new 2.56 drivers?

"Old sod"???
The "old" I will accept but I haven't "sodded" anyone (as far as I can
recall)!!!  :o)

I'm fine Tore, thanks for asking.

I hope this term isn't related to the "bug" word? It doesn't have much
meaning to me here in Ohio, USA.

Yes, but be aware that it _appears_ 3dfx has pulled a sneaky on the
latest reference drivers, and I welcome anyone to correct me if I'm
wrong :)

There used to be an option to disable DirectX support in the 3dfx
drivers.  That way, those of us with TNT and TNT2 cards (and others)
could use them for DirectX games, and the 3dfx for those few games that
are 3dfx only.

That option has disappeared.

What's worse, the 3dfx card (at least my MII does) over-rides the TNT2
card as the DirectX accellerator.

Which, of course, sucks.

Again, I welcome any correction on this issue, as I have not found any
way around it.

There is a Freeware appl. out there called D3D Control Centre. It allows you
to set the default card used by your apps when using D3D. Thereby forcing
the use of your TNT card.

Sorry I haven't the URL for it here at work. Maybe someone else can add it
to this thread.

Yeah, I found something similar: it's called 3dcc and was a small
utility made to be used with Power VR. It's only 42 kb, I would be
willing to e-mail it.
