F1 2000 steer prob

by XLjunki » Sun, 09 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Finally decided to buy F1 2000 but now it seems it doesn't
detect my steeringwheel.
I got DirectX 7.0a so that shouldn't be the problem.
The wheel is a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Racing (no FF)

Anyone else had this problem ? Any suggestions to solve this ?

Greetings,

The control selection menu can be confusing. The first option it give you is
for keyboard, ie when you click on steer left, it is asking for a keyboard
input. Hit escape, then it will ask you for a controller input. Then turn
your wheel left. You'll have to go through this for every controller
selection, ie steer right, accelerate, brake , etc.
Time consuming, and I can see where it would really be confusing for folks
new to racing sims. Would have been nice if they had just given a
wheel/keyboard main selection before choosing your control inputs.

Don,

Thanks for replying. Got the problem fixed now.
I normally have two controllers on my system, which runs fine with
N3, GPL, mgprs etc. But not with F1 2000, although the manual
says it should work.
I removed one and then it works.

Perhaps if you put the wheel in the first position in your control
panel, then F1-2000 would pick the first. That might be the problem
(with F1-2000).
