GPL frame rate

Just put together a P4 1.7 on an Intel 850 motherboard with an Elsa Gladiac
920. 3DMark2000 is nicely over 9000.

After setting up GPL for d3d and using the fast processor patch the game is
really smooth, it actually feels a bit easier (!). However when I hit the
frame rate key it says about 9. Now this cannot be right, I know what 9 fps
is like and it aint what's ahppeneing on my PC. I'm assuming this is a d3d
glitch.

Anyone else have this?

Andi.

I've never seen 9, but I've seen a steady and consistent 33 on some of the
converted tracks while on-line. I know it isn't *really* 33 because in GPL
if the fps drops below 36 you can really notice the degradation.

I've also seen 39 a few times, especially on Milano <g>

TBird 1.333, GF2 Ultra, ASUS A7M mobo. Everything maxed in GPL except driver
arms turned off.  Latest D3D patch. (Dunno about 3DMark2000 but I think my
2001 score was 4100 or something - I wonder if they changed the benchmark or
I'm really that much slower than you: 4100 vs 9000...)

Yeah Rob, 3DMark2001 is massively more demanding than 2000.  There's a test
in there that re-enacts a scene from Matrix.  Pretty stunning visually but
quite demanding.

Get the fast processor patch for GPL.  I think it's at papy.com

I wouldn't worry about it.  If the game's running smooth, and you're sure
it's not acutally running at 9 fps, then just forget about it.  Your system
is afterall, comfortably fast enough for the most demanding conditions in
GPL.  Maybe it's just a quirk with the fast-cpu patch, that it stops the
frame rate being calculated correctly.
