There is many racing software who have the Nascar license. Let's start by
companies. First of all, Papyrus/Sierra, who targets more their title to
the simulation fans (but they have an arcade mode) :
- Nascar Racing 1 (1994). I still have it and enjoy it ;)
- Nascar Racing 2 (1996). The sequel, who added plenty. There was a PSX
version also (mix N1/N2).
- GNS Expansion pack (1997). Add-on for N2 that got the users more tracks.
- Nascar Racing 2 : 50th Anniversary edition(1998). It's N2 + the GNS
expansion pack.
- Nascar Racing 99 (1998). This is the newest title from them about Nascar.
It's based on the N2 game engine, with trucks, a dozen more tracks (total to
34), windows support, etc..
- Nascar Racing 3 (Fall of 1999). This isn't out yet, but it's a known fact
that it will be the most realistic racing simulator ever done.
now EA Sports, who market more their titles on the arcade-style :
- Nascar 98 (1997). I think this was the first title, but there might be a
first one before.
- Nascar : 50th Anniversary Edition (1998). The same as the other one, but
added 2tracks and 3old drivers
- Nascar 99 (1998). It's an evolution of the same game engine.
- Nascar Revolution (1999). Another evolution of the same game engine.
As for popular it's your choice between realism or arcade-style racing. But
Nascar Revolution, even for an arcade-game, is very buggy and I would
recommend Nascar Racing 99 by Papyrus/Sierra (it has an option for arcade
mode). The Papyrus series sold over a million of those titles, but for EA
we need to understand that all their titles are released for the
Playstation, PC and/or N64.
