Fixing palette in N2 tracks converted to N1999 - how??

by Bob Daniels » Mon, 15 Mar 1999 04:00:00

Can someone explain (or point me to an explanation of) how to do this.

I have all the tracks I wanted running fine in N1999 now, but want to convert
the track pix and logo's to N1999 format.  Would rather do this myself rather
than downloading someone's patch as I want to use the same pix that appear
in N2

Thanx

The way I've been able to do it is using a paint program that allows you to
copy a bitmap to the clipboard and paste it into a different pcx file.

What I did was open a NR99 PCX file and the NR2 file in the paint program at
the same time.  Then select the entire image and copy it to the clipboard.
Then go to the NR99 file and paste the image onto it. Center the pasted
version or place it where you want it in the image area (some of the logo
images are larger than the N2 versions) and save the file under the file
name you want it to be (just don't overwrite any files you want to keep!).

I think what's happening is this:  NR99 and N2 use different palettes in
their graphic files.  When you paste the N2 image onto the NR99 file, the
colors in the N2 image get remapped to the NR99 palette.

I realize this is a rough overview of the process.  Hope that gives you
enough to go on...
