N2 would be the most popular.
However, go ahead and get N99. It has pretty much all the original N2 has,
plus the GNS add-on pack, and the new truck series and tracks, plus an
updated AI. Without a doubt, Nascar Racing 2 by Papyrus is the best selling
racing sim around.
I would not recommend Revolution by EA, based on the demo it is very
arcadish, nowhere near as realistic as N2, and the reports the final version
is getting on the newsgroups are pretty bad. You would be quite happy with
N99 until N3 comes out.
