Where to race N2/N1999 online

by Daxe Rexfor » Sun, 14 Mar 1999 04:00:00

Hi r.a.s.ers,

    Quick and hopefully simple question...

I have never raced N2 or N1999 online against actual human opponents and
I would like some pointers on where to look to do this.

I know there is TEN, which is bundled with the software and I have heard
of NROS (which is hosted by TEN?).  I checked out NROS and it said the
registration was closed for the season.

Will I be able to use the Windows version of N1999 when racing online
against others or do I have to restart in DOS and lose the use of my MSFF
wheel?  Are there other hosts for online racing besides TEN?

Any info would be greatly appreciated,

daxe

There is still a lot of Nascar Racing going on Ten right now. It is a blast,
and is without a doubt the best online racing going on right now. 24 car
fields, and some awesome racing action.  Ten will run you 40 bucks for 3
months unlimited use. Not a bad deal at all.
Yes, you can use N99 to race on Ten, as long as you install the Nros tracks
along with it.
The other option is Kali, which I have never raced on. I believe it is a one
time 20 charge, but, is limited to the number of opponents you can have, and
I have heard it is very warpy.

No, you won't be able to use the NR1999 Windows version on TEN.  In
order for you to race on TEN, you have to install the NROS version of
the game, which is basically N2 without the offline enabler.  So you
won't be able to race at those new tracks, like Homestead, on TEN.
And the game is run in Windowed-Dos.
