GeForce + 133 mhz BUS + Voodoo II = Locked up system!!!! ?

by Jay » Wed, 28 Jun 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

I've been considering getting a new GeForce 2 GTS card to replace my
old TNT first generation 16 meg AGP card.

I've got some older games that require GLIDE, so I've got a Voodoo II
12 meg PCI Piggy-Back board that I'd like to run with this new system.

I'm planning on getting a PIII 933 with a ASUS-P3V4X motherboard, but
I've heard that the VII will lock up with this type (133mhz bus) system!

Has anyone had any experiences with this occurring, or getting an older
VII to run on a 133 MHz bus motherboard?

Thanks in advance for the help!

The V2 is a PCI card, the 1/4 divider will correctly set the PCI bus
is at 33Mhz.

Some AGP cards have trouble working on overclocked AGP ports. Running
a BX chipset at 133 FSB would give you a 89Mhz AGP speed (2/3). This
can cause lockups with some cards.

None of that applies to you because the P3V4X is designed to run at
133 Mhz, with a 1/2 AGP divider giving you a proper AGP speed of
66Mhz.

It should work fine, a friend of mine has the same mobo overclocked to
145Mhz with a TNT and a V2, no problems.
