I hear geforce 256 this and geforce 256 that all over the net, I hear it can
do 10 + million polygons a sec. and that you can download a glide wrapper?
Since it has this special GPU will it be better than say a voodoo 5 with 64
or 128 mb of ram?

Each card "may" have an advantage over the other is certain areas.
You really have to look into the future and try and guage just what
games you will be playing.  If you are gonna focus on GPL, then all the
wizbang features on the GeForce just don't add much.  But if Quake Arena
or similar products are your favorites then a GeForce could certainly
fill the bill.  As of this moment, the only product out there that takes
advantage of the Geforce's tools is quake arena.
Only sim drivers by hardware to work with one game :)  By this time
next year PLENTY of other products will be out that use both the
Geforce's and the 3dfx' gimmicks for more speed.  But for now???
I haven't seen the review of SU-27, but I doubt its updated for the
Gforce, can't think of any driving sims yet that are....it just depends
what  your future *** needs are.
And we can't compare a geforce with a V5 that won't be out for several
more months...  Unless you really have a sucky system that needs to be
upgraded...I'd say wait til this round of improvements has happened.

Hello Dave,
I agree with most of what Dave says.  To add, by the time the Voodoo 5
is released, there will be a new product from NVIDIA (and most other
chip makers).

My advice...keep what you have and dont mess with cards that arent supported by
the masses.  I got a TNT2 as a b-day gift and promptly returned it after only a
week after finding out it wasnt compatible with anything!!  Yea it might work
great for games designed for it...but GPL on it sucked hard.  I got a V3 3000
instead and havent regretted it once.  All my games/sims work with it and
seeing as how GPL is more or less THE ultimate test  for a card/processor combo
id have to say untill something better comes along if it can run GPL....it can
run damn near anything.  If you must get a card now get a 3dfx chipset.
They're highly compatible and work great.  If you dont need an upgrade wait for
the dust to settle and for ALL the new cards to come out and then and only then
make your decision.
