On a number of occasions I have been "creamed" while sitting well within
my pit stall. This happens as 2 cars come into the pit together and one
slams into the one in front.
I also had an occasion of a perpetual yellow, with the "one lap to
green" message each lap. What kept the green from dropping was Jeff
Gordon driving along side the Pace Car, preventing it from leaving the
track. I finally drove up and tapped the rear of Gordon's car
(crumpling his rear bumper) forcing him into the pits.
It seems that if I don't get immediately behind the car assigned ahead
of me on yellow pit stops, the computer can't quit keep the running
order right. As I try to slow down and let the right car get in front
of me I am told to get behind another car instead. This other car is
usually still sitting in the pits. This also seems to entail other cars
sitting sideways on the track trying to figure out where they belong in
the restart line.
On the non-AI side: I am using the Thrustmaster F1 steering wheel/combo
and find that there seems to be a spot on the tracks (3 so far) where a
slight adjustment to the right will send the car straight to the wall.
This appears to be on the front stretches just after the start finish
and just before the corner. Is this supposed to model some none "bumps"
in the tracks? I noticed this in IndyCar Racing also, especially at
Australia.
