HELP!!!!!! Screen Freezes in N2

by Pau » Sun, 23 Nov 1997 04:00:00

I recently encountered my screen freezing in N2. What happens is i'm
driving along and all the sudden the screen freezes for about 2
seconds then unfreezes for 2 sec then freezes again and unfreezes. It
happens 3 times then is good for a couple more minutes then it happens
again. I cant race online cause when it freezes the car keeps going
but I cant see were until it unfreezes. The problem all started when I
reinstalled WINDOWS 95 cause I thought there was a problem with it.
Come to find out it was the driver from the new video card I just
bought. Anyway, I saw a posting last week with someone who had a
similar problem but nobody posted a solution that worked for me. I
hope someone will see this and email me directly and to the group for
future refernce.

Are you by any chance running N2 from a compressed hard drive?  I had
similar problems, which were immediately and permanently solved by
uncompressing my drive.

HELP!!!!!! Screen Freezes in N2

I had this problem when I first got N2. It turns out that while N2 was running
so was a calendar reminder on Win95. Hit ctrl/alt/delete all at the same time
and see if any programs besides explorer are running. Mine would say
"gwreminder" so I went in and removed that and it never happened again, sounds
very similar to what is happening to you.

I don't have low self-esteem, I have low esteem for other people.

I also had this problem and I discovered that I had the screen saver on
and for some stupid reason Win95 doesn't recognise input from my
joystick as input, it thinks that only mouse or keyboard can give input.
Even though the joystick (MS Sidewinder pro) works perfectly and win95
knows exactly what it is....
