Decised to get F1 RS. Is the steering supposed to be so
twitchy/uncontrollable at high speeds? (Using a T2 wheel.) Seems oK at
low speeds, but at high speeds the wheel seems to acquire a large dead
zone, outside of which the steering is very twitchy and tends to lurch
the car suddenly.

Patch it to level 1.08 (somewhere in in the patch progression there was
a fix for the steering).  Also get Thrustmaster's ProPanel applet and
use it to calibrate your wheel in Win95

Thanks Michael, done both of those (the 1.08 patch did seem to improve
it somewhat). Maybe I just need more practice. BTW, when does the next
F1 season start? I've never been a big fan, but now that I can drive
the courses in such a realistic renditin I think I'd like to watch
some races.

Hi Joe:

The next race, 4th this season, is on April 27th.  San Marino.

If you want to know what the drivers are doing, uh, if you want
to THINK you know what the drivers are doing, start practicing now.

I do think driving a race, I like full length races, is a good
study of a track.  I wish the TV coverage included more time with
in-car shots.

I don't think I'll get that far - I'll settle for being familiar with
the track! ;-)

It's already going, three races in.  First two with Hakkinen-Coultard 1-2 for
McLaren.  Last race was Schumacher-Hakkinen.  Next race is Imola this Sunday.

This is because Windows creates a 5% neutral zone around the center of your
steering. This is way too much. You can decrease this by downloading
dxdzfix.exe (from many sites) which will change your Windows' dinput.dll and
allow you to set the neutral zone to zero. This brings back the GP2 steering
feel. It completely transforms driving in F1RS!

Good luck,

I located it by typing DXDZFIX in the search window of Yahoo. Dozens of
download sites will show up.

I mailed to that www.f1rasingsim.com guy that he's missing it and you can probably
get it already from there. If not, just look trough the F1RS sites, I found it on
a foreign site. Can't remember the URL.
