F1RS Steer sensitive problem

F1RS Steer sensitive problem

by William Dahm » Fri, 26 Dec 1997 04:00:00

I can't find a way to get the sensitivity right in F1RS.  I have tried
almost all the things in the win 95 game controllers add menu but they
only seem to be two groups.  One that is way to unsensitive in f1RS
(joystick, flight yoke, Virtual pilot, ect . . . ) or to sensitive (T2,
Tm GP1, custom is a race car controller, ect . . ) , especially on
courses like Monaco where you have to use a big lock for a couple of
hairpins but also have many narrow straights.  I've tried all of the
above with the sensitivity slider in F1RS being adjusted various ways,
unfortunately that didn't seem to help a great deal either.  Shame to
b/c from what I can tell tooling around the courses at ? speed it seems
like one hell of a sim, can't wait to play it with control input I can
drive.
In ICR2 I used non-linear with big wheel locks, sometimes even bigger
than the stock setups wheel locks, or sometimes I used linear with a
smaller lock.  In GP2 I used 60% sensitivity, 65% reduce w/ speed, 22
deg lock.  Each of these felt great to me.  I have a very high quality
DIY wheel w/ ACM card.
Anybody who has any Ideas for getting a sensitivity in F1RS between
"Joystick" and "Wheel" please post or E-MAIL.  Thanx

TM GP1& CH Pedals. Calibrated as custom race car controller. 100%
steering, 90% accln & brake. Sensitive? So you'll have to reduce
steering lock to around 14 for most circuits except Monaco. Heavenly
after that! Brakesand throttle still a little digital though, but at
least it will drive great now! This was a tip from Eric Cot, of SPY GP2
setup fame. Let's hope for more GP2 defectors to get the show on the
road (car sets et al).

BTW, after patch V1.05 the sim recognizes 4 Axis, so you can switch the
CH Pedals to car mode. It makes quite a difference to have gas and brake
on two axis.
