Speed at Talladega

Hey fellow racing fans. I have a problem on the Talledega track in Nascar
1. I seem to slow down way too much in turn 4. I use to be able to go
throught that corner and not fall below 190 but now I am going down to as
much as 182mph or so. I am also finding it hard to get back up to top speed
on the front straight-away. On the back straight-way however I am able to
hit top speed of as much as 215mph once. I like this part but I just
can't seem to keep the speed in the corners. I think it's the gear ratio.
Could I be right? Any suggestions on what to do.

                                Thanks a lot....

Not to seem argumentative, but 215 on the back stretch!!!  The best I have
ever done is 204, and that was in the draft.  Is your restrictor plate on?
What version do you have?  Surely not 1.21.

Sounds like you got a severe North wind blowing at the Dega!

Sounds like you have a pretty stiff North wind blowing!

Check the wind setting.  It sounds like you've added a bit of wind and are
benefitting from it on one side and being hurt by it on the other.  It
happens on Hawaii all the time.

Good luck.

I am telling you I hit 215 once. Since then I have been able to do 210 on
a continuous basis. I have version 1.00. I was not able to do it on
version 1.21 at all so I reinstalled 1.00. Any suggestions anyone on
howto keep my speed up in the corners.

That happened to me on Hawaii yesterday. The top speed on the backstretch
was about 206, but you'd drop to 183 or so MPH through turn 4. At first I
thought it was the way Multi.exe was programmed to slow down two-by-two
cars going through the tri-oval, but I was wrong.

I find it hard to believe that anyone can top 215 at Michigan. It was the
wind that caused that 215 on the back stretch but I still slow down
considerably in the corners esp. turn 4. Anything else you can think of guys?
Thanks a lot for the first suggestion. I think that I set it so that I
could go fast on the back stretch but I completely forget about it.

Later.

Actually, I think he meant that he was able to obtain a higher speed at
Michigan than he could at Talladega, and that he was shocked that anyone
could have made a run of 215 at Talladega, which is much faster than he
could muster.  Or at least I hope that is what he meant!!!

I've run 219.xxx at Talladega with a 226 back stretch speed (228 in the draft).
Of course, that's with the restrictor plate taken off. ;-)

Then it doesn't count, does it?  Kinda like saying I beat Duke3d while in
God mode.
What is your fastest speed while *NOT* cheating?

Not to be picky here, but it's only cheating when you are trying to compare
your speeds to others who have left the plate on.  As long as you bump up
the RELS line in the taladega.txt file, you can still have close racing
with the AI cars.

Use F4 to check the Hawaii settings before joining a race. Sometimes the
person nominating the race gets pretty creative.:>
