Talladega more speed wanted

by CJ Elli » Tue, 13 Feb 1996 04:00:00

I have reached speeds of 226 MPH going into the third turn by removing
the restrictor plate from Talladega.txt and setting up my car properly
without braking assistance.

My problem is that when I race in multiplayer, my opponite still has
more power to leave me standing when I am even drafting him.

So that we do not have any problems with modem play, we always make sure
that our settings are the same before connecting. (i.e. realism, car
setup, etc.)  The only difference (and I do mean only) between us is
that his computer is a P5-90 with 24 meg & a Diamond 2 meg video card
running DOS 6.22 & Win 3.11 and my system is a P5-150 with 32 meg & a
Matrox 8 meg video card running Win 95 (DOS mode).  We have the same
joysticks and software.

As recommended by the manual, my system is the faster one, so I always
answer.

Can anyone tell me why this happens, as I understand racing the car
drafting should have more power should it not?

If there is no known reason for this to happen, is there any additional
ways known to get more power and speed?

Please help as we have raced at least 20 times now and the only races
that I have won have been 2. (The very first race before I told him
about turning off braking assistance and the other when I lucked up and
he crashed allowing me to get a lap ahead with only 3 laps left.)

Thanks from CJ the Speed Freak!!

All things being the same,. ie setups, you should know that no two setups
will work the same for everybody.  What works for him may not work for
you.  So you may need to work on your setup a little bit and then practice
and more practice.
He might be a tad bit smoother than you or taking different line than you.
And yes you can be faster in the draft if you do it correctly.  Work on
the setup, practice alot and you'll be winning in no time.  Good luck,
