Hi!
np!
You have to make sure that the new sound has the same format
(sample-frequency, bit-resolution) and roughly the same length (very
important!) as the replaced one.

N4 is more picky. I have tried these:
Sounds in the \spcc folder: 8 bit (16 bit doesn't work), SR 5512 Hz or 22050
Hz, Mono
Other sounds: 16 bit, SR 22050, Mono
I don't know if this is system dependent - propably not.
Hi!
Alas, not all sounds of N4 are in this format! Especially the engine-sounds
are in 22050 Hz, 16 Bit mono. Best method is to check every single sound
before altering it.
Spotter and announcer-sounds are as you mentioned though ;).

Hi!
On the main page, click on the "Stockcars"-link, then click on "EDITORS".
It's the second one in the list. Here's the direct link (yes, I know, you
guys at the pits don't like that ;)) ):

The sound of a stockcar at speed has more of a modulating howl to it as
it circles the track. These engine sounds really aren't any better than
what we already have (IMHO), except maybe the less obtrusive starting
announcer ("gentlemen start your engines"). Here's a link to a zip'd
wav file of a real stock car:

That's a sound bit from a video my wife took as I made some laps at
Vegas...
Thanks again.

I'd love to see someone take some scanner bits and turn them into N4 wavs for
the game. Get some real race-time bits like that one we heard a couple of
weeks ago, "We ain't got time for this s***." Maybe Todd Parrott could
volunteer a few of his choice sound bites. ;o)

I don't know if everyone else has the same sounds that I have but my engine
doesn't sound like it came out the Evernham engine shop. It sounds like it
came from Norelco.
