GPL - D3D patch

GPL - D3D patch

I loaded and installed the D3D patch. The good thing is it works the bad
thing
is the performance drops. In 640x480 I get only 28 frames on clear track and
with 1024x768 it drops to 17 frames.

Under the same conditions I get 36-37 frames with OpenGL. Whats wrong?

Here is my system: P2-400 with Riva TNT1, 128 MB RAM and plenty of space
on the harddisk.

Texture trashing? Try reading the readmeD3D file and change the
"tosshighestmip"-something...

I have put all that numbers on Zero as recommended. IMO the
D3D patch is really crap.

Try the NVidia 5.22 Detonator2 drivers.  If all else fails you should
probably look into buying a 3d accelerator that's less than 3
generations old...

Other people are reporting better performance with the D3D patch so
don't know why you are not getting the same effect. I can't tell on my
machine because I have always got max fps (36) with Glide, OpenGL and

and use the settings in the core.ini that they recommend if you
haven't done so already. Maybe it's time for a new vid card and/or
cpu.

Try reading the file next time, instead of just skimming through it. Many
settings shoulkd be on 1 for optimal performance. Tosshighestmip=0 will
need about 15 mb of texture memory.

it's because you are cursed: getting 37 fps with a game locked at 36 is
obviously a cursed thing...

actually I'm running the demo on the same (similar) system...

you just need to turn the double res mirrors to 0, since that card can't get
much above 1024 if your lucky. And then turn off secular lighting, and
possibly dynamic lighting. The game looks many times better than the OGL
patch. So many people are calling the D3D patch ***compared to the other
rasterizer, when it's really apples to oranges. The double mirror think is
of course going to slow down the frame rates from the other rasters that
don't have it.

Well i am experiencing the same problems, and have tried a lot of things to
make it better. I do believe that the TNT 1 card is getting a bit tired
compared to all the new geforce cards. At this moment in time it looks like
we are stuck with the OpenGL patch, which isn't half bad with the right
drivers.
