RASCAR is back for this Saturday.

by Mitch_ » Tue, 26 Aug 2003 14:19:07

RASCAR will continue without Mr.Simmons micro-management.  RASCAR is for RAS
readers that wish to run in an informal yet competitive atmosphere.  As was
in the original RASCAR charter. No individual will make any rules without
group consent.  Either a commitee or group voting will decide what few
manageable rules are desirable.  The one key difference will be a driver
selection process.  We can't afford to let any nubmskull fresh from the
pickup circuit come and cause numerous yellow flags so we want experienced
racers only until we can establish a testing/entry process to help weed out
non-drivers that just happen across RAS.  This isnt to say they will be
instantly barred from competition but a testing process is a must.

The server has been secured but is currently un-tested.  During this week it
will be setup for a few evening practice/testing races.  Stay tuned.

The races will be on Saturdays at 4pm est.  An invite list will eventually
be in place but the first few races will be password protected.  We will
continue to use
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
unless informed otherwise.

The DM will be the same as weve run since last year.  This week Darlington
40%.  We want clean freindly racing and encourage participation from
everyone involved.

The group that is getting this going is looking for members that wish to
contribute any skills to help make this a better place to race.  Ed can you
hear  me?  You can have your job back and get some say on how you race :)

RASCAR is back and WE ALL have a say this time around!

Mitch, with respect, you need to tone down the descriptive somewhat in order
not to offend we numbskulls out here.
The essence of good management is diplomacy, mate.

I think, though, the approach of introducing a certain minimum quality level
for joining is interesting. If you want clean, good racing without extremely
threatening rules and penalties, admitting only mature and experienced
drivers is the way to go.

Oh, most certainly, Achim.
I wasn't criticising the intent, only the wording, which may be taken as a
slap in the face by some. (The "numbskull" bit, that is).

Bruce.

I agree, Bruce.

AAMOF, I think Mitch used that term on purpose, to avoid that the RASCAR
guys might get withdrawal symptoms after what they've been used to in the
past weeks ;-)

So,please tell.  Why didn't you guys just organise this a couple of weeks
ago. You were told if you didn't like it, leave.  But you wouldn't.  Like I
said in a previous post.  Some people had an agenda to***off John and
cause the demise of Rascar to suit their own ends.  Yeah they pissed off
John, but didn't count on Eldred pulling the server.
Going to interesting to see how it all works out.  These committees and
selection criterea.  Sounds pretty eletist.

And there are plenty of those leagues already in existance. One of the
original purposes of Rascar was to give people that frequented RAS but
didn't have a lot of online racing experience someplace to get there feet
wet and find good clean racing without worrying about messing up someones
race in a league that tracked points.

What does the acronym "AAMOF" represent?

You said it Kyle: 'good clean racing'. Good clean racing simply doesn't
happen unless you take a few precautions. One of the potentially effective
ones is what Mitch suggested.

RASCAR is back for this Saturday.

It was supposed to be newbie and non-legacy stock car driver friendly, but
if Mitch wants to do it that way, he can do it that way. As long as *he*
does it.

Besides, there's no-one in RASCAR I would call incompetent as a driver. Some
don't take the effects of latency into account as much as I would like to
see and some seem to find it hard to judge another driver's speed, but
that's about it. Situational awareness errors seemed to be on the decrease
since I started the reviews, so that was no longer an issue, IMO.
