RASCAR is back for this Saturday.

RASCAR is back for this Saturday.

by Steve Whitt » Tue, 26 Aug 2003 20:58:23

Ok.  All I want is somewhere to race when it suits my schedule.  Which is
6am Aussie time.  4pm  for the Rascar races.  I can't join a league as
family and work commitments prohibit.  Thats why I joined rascar.  Can't
join pickup races, as everyone has their max lats set so low that anyone in
the southern hemishpere not on broadband can't join.  The aussie servers
that have a decent number of drivers in them are league servers.  like I
said.  Out of the question.
So, I'm willing to give the new revamped Rascar a go.  I might be pissed at
the situation, but I got to live with it.

So guys.  Is anyone that supported John, Eldred and Jan going to be welcome?

I don't give a shit who is and isn't in control anymore.  As in previous
posts, life is too short to worry  about petty little things.  I just want
to damn well race!!!!!!!

So, everyone get their shit together and get this show on the road and
boogie.  I just want to damn well race!!!!

Steve

see, I can be nice at times:-)

Jan, I didn't understand Mitch's comment as referring to anyone currently
driving in RASCAR.

I also think that drivers who cause accidents more frequently aren't
necessarily incompetent. They often are just a bit impatient, or not
sufficiently emotionally detached for some reason :-)

That's not incompetence, it's a momentary lapse of reason ;-) and I firmly
believe that on the level where we are driving, this is the most common
cause of accidents.

Ok, if you are really willing to take over running RASCAR then, just as with
John, I'm willing to support you and try things your way.

I'm glad you finally realised that if you wanted things done your way, you'd
have to take over from John. It's a pity Eldred quit over the disagreement
before this happened.

I guess that means these tests will take place at the very convenient time
of 3 am CET? <g>

Here's a thought: why don't you ask Eldred for the invite list? -Think it
would be easier to delete a couple names rather than to build from scratch.
Unless you want to evaluate everyone before putting them back on the roster.

Ginger requested I continue with the reviews. If that fits into your
strategy I'm willing to continue doing that (no deadlines though).

I think I know what you mean, but there's something very odd about that
sentence.

Ok, I'll apply. I'll copy in this message just in case you really did
killfile me.

As I said before, I have my doubts about the long term feasability of that
system. I'm afraid you're going to get 10 opinions and no concensus. But,
beggars can't be choosers. I have no opportunity to do it myself so I have
to support the person who does.

Secondly, good intentions and a server do not a league or, if you insist, a
club make. It won't update a webpage, post results/replays and keep a carset
updated. Neither will it mediate disputes between drivers.

I understand you only want experienced Nascar drivers. How about posting
some trial times so we know what kind of ability level you're after ? Or
will there be evaluation sessions ?

Wrong approach Ted. The driver quality RASCAR needs is not related to speed
;-)

Yeah, but even I can keep it safe and on the track doing 25mph ;)  Being
able to keep to a realistic pace would be a necessity, I would think. Slow
drivers are a danger, or don't you go out on real roads ?

Sorry Bruce.  Advice taken to heart :)  You did get the point I was making

Elitist, hardly.  I NEVER wanted to do anything against the greater good of
RASCAR.  I dont want to RUN anything but now WE havent much choice except
John re-taking RASCAR which is un-acceptable to me and others.  Or in this
case give everyone some input keep the rules as simple and clearly defined
as possible and hope we ALL put enough peer pressure on the bad drivers to
make them improve.

Peer pressure is a much better weapon than any threat.

Eldred really never had any authority to put John in charge and when the
impact of that decision failed he should have just let John fade back to
painter/driver status.  Thats just an opinion btw.  We had many
opportunities to resolve any issues but JS refused anything but his way.

Heh...
Well it's good to see that you guys (all of you) havn't given up yet...
just as it's bad to see things go pant's in the first place.  What can I
say..? -  well, it takes two to tango!

Let's put history behind us and look forward...
I'm afraid I can only offer limited help at the moment Mitch...  When I
dropped out I did so for several reasons, but the main ones were a) IMHO,
the races really sucked and b) the racetime didn't really suit my very
well..

Even with better races (if/when that comes) - there will still be the
illsuited schedule. :o(
I might drop in every now and then - but thats about it.

I still plan to set up a week-nights division so I can free up my weekends.
I just need to sort out a few things first.

I can however, offer my assistance with regards to the web-site. *If*
someone can help share some of the duties I'll be happy to go back to being
a webmaster. I was hoping to use the RCS site for both division in the
future and this way we can get a head-start - if thats okey with the rest.

If anyone want to take the task alone, just let me know and I'll send over
the details.

What ever you guys choose to do - I wish you all the best of luck on your
new ventures. :o)

If you understand youre not at pace speed and understand the guys AT pace
speed have little patience then you likely wouldnt have any problems.  Its
guys off the pace that think they are at pace is where the probs arise.
IMO.
