What a guy...

Does the emphasis on attempt means you achieved it?

What part of "I was not" confused you? Although John thinks he achieved
total control of RASCAR, he never really did. It was an *attempt* on his
part, and it failed. Yo won't see that from Mitch and I. Read the forum
again.

I don't know why you are being so negative Tony. I said a days ago before
John quit that I was hoping you and some of the other early RASCAR drivers
would rejoin. I always liked racing with you, and thought you were the type
of driver we needed more of.

You've been doing your best to put a negative spin on much of what Mitch and
I have posted the past two days though, so I give up trying to convince you.

Still hope you join though.

As stated before, I enjoyed racing you and your company in Rascar in the
early days. The RAS Sucks paint job was a touch of wit deserving of British
humour :)

you.

Well its not like you to give up David, I have been unimpressed with the
leadership development (explanataion follows), but have kept well out of
the slanging matches you will find and it is not personal.

Depending on your viewpoint having not been involved I either don't have
enough information to comment or can stand back and have an objective view.

From my spectator's seat I have seen a big slanging match in which some
pretty offensive things have been said and two of the worst offenders then
expect the support of the group. Usenet can be tough to be restrained, but
I have to say I think you could talk your way to a red card in the tunnel
on the way onto the soccer pitch!

I stated before that I felt Mitch's post was well intentioned but it is
inevitable that assuming leadership even under the concept of complete
group ownership will appear to be a coup. I think it naive to think that it
can run as a committee of all. Already some decisions have to made and then
all of your arguments about rights to make decisions against John fall
apart.

I have been negative because I can see it happening all over again. Whether
you see it this way or not, Dave, you and Mitch do like to pursue an
argument through to the bitter end when others might bite their lip (or
whatever the keyboard equivalent is) for the sake of diplomacy. In which
case someone like Jan might be an easier choice for the RASers to get
behind to handle sensitive situations. That doesn't mean I wouldn't want
you to be part of the decision team at all.

Following the uproar having a more neutral leadership would seem
favourable. It appeared to me that Jan had stated he would do it and was
soliciting (and receiving) support then Mitch simply told us how it was
happening. This may have been poor communication, but a good communicator
is exactly what we need right now.

Finally you will note I have respect for John. Having raced with him in the
past and spent many late hours conversing with John, I like the guy. His
blatant humour makes me laugh, just as your RAS Sucks thing did. So I will
be biased as I know John much better than I know you - its human nature.

Point taken though, I'll refrain from the ribbing (though I liked the
JUNTACAR line!)

Cheers
Tony

I like that word - "buffoon". I think I'll start using it more...

   Hey redTed, you're a buffoon!

Yeah - that's real classy, and certainly sounds more socially
acceptable than something like this:

   Hey redTed, you're a ***-wad!

Yeah, I think "buffoon" is way classier, and implies his ape-like
features and intellect...

Thanks Bruce!  I feel like I'm a better person now!

At the same time, the RASCAR races were intended to give people a way
to get better at racing without worrying about being wrecked. You
can't get better at racing if you're always under caution.  That's
what I was trying to fix.

Hey, look ... Jethro's found his swear book..  Stop showing off. Did they
teach you that kind of language "In the Navy", sailor ?
Somehow, I don't think anyone cares what you say anymore. You've had you're
15 minutes of fame and now you will regret letting me out of your pen. I
wouldn't be too quick to remind people of your hilarious sloping forehead
skit, I've seen your "family" photo's on your personal homage to JSimmons
web page. I won't post a link as it's getting late, and I don't want to be
responsible for people having horrific nightmares.

So a rule sending the leader to the rear at start of next race, or no
chatting rule, or time limited discussion rule all made the racing better?
In what way?  You say one thing then implement rules that have no
relationship.  We all know they were your pet peeve rules but you'll never
see that.  You can justify anything so theirs no arguing.

Why don't you just come and race.  You said thats all you wanted.

DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Btw, thanks for the suggestion, Frank, hadn't noticed they added an
acronym search.  I'm ***ed to the image search engine.

Thanks,

Actually, John, your inference that the word "buffoon" means an ape-like
appearance and intellect is not  correct, I;, afraid.

The word stems from a combination of French ('bouffon') and the Italian word
for jester, 'buffone'.

Therefore the only implication that could be arrived at is that the subject
is a dill, not that he is a Neanderthal.

Bruce.

I read recently that a paper (I think NYT?) publishes a list of new words
annually, which are combinations of two other words. It's an annual
competition among readers I think.

One of my favourites this year was "bozone", which is the dense cloud
surrounding a particularly stupid individual, preventing any sense from
entering. Kinda like that. Another fave was "ignoranus", an idiot who is
also an ass :-)

John

PS - Of course a quick Google confirms it's the Washington Post, and a list
of the winners ;
