N4 & OpenGL

I have been able to get N4 to run consistently in Direct 3D at 1024 x 768 but
when setting graphics to OGL I at some point always get a screen freeze....with
the game still running in the background...cna hear the action continuing but
the system is completely locked up with the last frame of action still showing.

I will freely admit that I know little about the various terminology shown in
advanced display properties....could someone give me a hint as to where to
start?  The graphics look so much better in OGL I would like to be able to run
it this way but I don't want to defeat the purpose by turning everything down.
What settings in the display properties of OGL need to be looked at and/or what
other areas need to be addressed?

System is:

PIII 600 Soyo SY-6 BA+ main board
256 MB PC100 RAM
ATI Raedon All-In-Wonder 32MB DDR
Sound Blaster Live Value
WD 40GB running UDMA33

Thanks
Doug B.

Doug,

fwiw, that is a common symptom of an overheating video card.  I would guess
OpenGL is working the card harder (that's why it looks better), which is
raising the temp.  See if getting a little better airflow through your case
helps things out.

Hope this helps,

Good point.  But what I had to do to get rid of the same thing Doug is
describing w/ Open GL (and CTDs in D3D) was to install an AGP 2.0
compliant motherboard to go w/ my GeForce card.  I am not sure if his
MB and video card requires that.

Cool that video card off it's overheating!

I agree - had the same problem with my heavily overclocked system - turned
on my custom dual 8-inch case fans and no more problems (except that it's
damn noisy! :)

This almost sounds like your card is overheating...  Is it over-clocked ?

Does your system have Wheel Chocks ?

ROTFL!!! Let's just say it's the centre of attention at LAN parties. :)
