TSW or FF Wheel for GPL

TSW or FF Wheel for GPL

by Hank Paul » Thu, 12 Aug 1999 04:00:00

I currently have a TSW wheel (am very happy with it)
After hearing the raves about the FF patch w/ GPL,
am considering a FF wheel.  Will I be disappointed
with the quality after being spoiled by the TSW or
will I be thrilled :-)  If thrilled is the answer, which wheel
would be the best

Thanks,  Hank

If you get the Logitech, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I don't know the TSW though I heard lots of positive news about it but I don't
think you should compare it with FF wheels. No doubt the TSW is a quality
product but.....
Since two weeks I own the Logitech WFF (before this I had a cheap wheel, not
bad though) and love it! Be warned: If you played GPL with FF you can't go
back anymore!
A lot of people wonder whether FF did improve their laptimes, to me this is
not an important issue (allthough I think in time your times will indeed
improve, you have to get used to this especially when you are totally familiar
with your current non-FF hardware and adapted your style accordingly),
gameplay is!
Probably FF technology will improve a lot the next couple of years but at the
moment the LWFF i.c.w. GPL is really amazing. If you're still in love with
your TSW don't try the logitech!

The Logithech wheel is VERY fun with GPL, but the pedals are a disaster
in my opinion. Very little travel, no pivoting of the pedal head, and
they "feel" cheap, like they are gonna bust any time now.

Am I to understand correctly that I can use my TSW
pedal w/ Logtech Wheel?

No. I never made a reference to that. I was referring to the Logitech
pedals feeling a little TOO plastic. I don't own a TSW, so I can not
comment on that product.

In GPL, I can use my TSW pedals with my ACTLABS Force RS wheel.
My ACTLABS wheel plugs to the serial port, and my TSW
to my gamecard. I set the Force RS as controller #1 in windows
control panel and the TSW as Controller #2.

GPL will see the TSW pedals and Force RS wheel as an additional
axis and allow you to configure/calibrate.

Pretty awesome!
