Can anyone let me know how the car settings work, I don't know what things
to adjust to make my car go quicker and stuff like that.
A friend of mine gave me the game and I don't know what the toe-in and all
that sort of stuff does.
Can anyone fill me in on what all the different settings do?

Well, this is a little deep, good luck.

IMO the best thing you can do is go here and read everything, then get
Alison's cooper setups and drive the cooper for a few months.

If you decide to try online (it's the best!) please read this first.

Did he give you the manuals with the game?  Read them first and then look to
the Web sites that others have suggested for more in-depth coverage.  This
isn't a steal it and go kind of title.  Unless you like frustration.

Marc.

Hi

I've got the game for about a week so I'm also gpl newbe. I've read
somewhere that at first you shouldn't bother about the setup to much but
jump at the car and do hundreds of laps. I tried and it works so far. I
downloaded Greger Ferrari race setup for Glen, adjusted only brake bias from
54 to 58 and I'm cruising on the track. My times (1.06.5xx -1.07.5xx) are of
course far from his (1.03.6xx in Eagle) but I hope the speed will come with
more practice.

Consistent 1:07s after one week "cruising"??? Makes me feel so inadequate.
It's taken me ages to get below 1:06 even once.

If you get into the 1:03 bracket at all, you can rate yourself among the
absolute elite - if you do it in a Ferrari, I want to see the replay!

Yesterday evening I clocked 1.05.73 with Ferrari, but 1.03xx in this car is
rather impossible. Unfortunately my consistency is limited by my crappy
wheel that lose its adjustments in the worst possible moment :-(. Interact
V3 sucks!

My, how times have changed.  Getting into the 1:06s at the Glen took the
majority of us months and months of practice.  And you did it in a little
over a week.  At that rate, you will be in the 1:03-4s within a few months.

For claryfication, i had totally free week, everyday i played from mornign
to afternoon.
Today i clocked 1.05.27 with Ferrari and i think i reached my limit . To get
1.03-4 i will have to switch to lotus and practice harder.

Even with a solid week's practice, 1:05.27 in the Ferarri is a ***in' good
lap!  Congratulations, you appear to be a natural.

As somebody who barely gets under 1:08 at the Glen in the Lotus (after 5
months), I heartily agree with Kurt. 1:05 looks like nirvana...

Something tells me you're under 1:29 at Monza too; I finally broke 1:30 last
week.

For the moment I've concentrated only on Glen. Yesterday i compared my
hotlap with some lotus/eagle 1.03.xxx from Schubi's page. I discovered that
the most time i lose on the straights and in the last part of the track. I
hope switching to lotus will solve the problem with straights but to get
better through Big Bend (about 0,2 sec loss) and especially 90* (0,3 s) i
would make up something special. I've got 2 more free days to complete this
task, than i'll have to come back to the real world :-(
