VROC/GPL/Cable modems

I just got my Cable modem installed today(I'm happy as hell!!)
However, When I logged onto VROC and reset my connection status to read
that I'm hooked up to a cable modem and I can have 20 drivers....  When
I try to host a race and get to the connection screen with GPL,  all
that's listed are the serial ports (1,2,3) and my old 33.6 modem.  If I
try to join a race I get the same list to choose from to join the race
with.   I'm connected to a HUB as a sub master of another computer if
that helps any.

What do I have to do to my system or GPL or VROC to have my system
recognize the cable modem?

Thanks in advance,
Mike Barlow

PS:  Please Email me.  I'll be enjoying my new speeds with other sights
and will check the email from time to time.

If your GPL machine has a routable IP (i.e. not a reserved LAN IP like
129.29.x.x, 192.168.x.x, etc.) check the TCP/IP Issues section of the
readme.  If this is not the case, and the machine is behind a
gateway/firewall you'll most likely need to wait for the 1.1 patch and
then use a combination of IP masquerading and IP autoforwarding.

I had the same problem and fixed it by including this line in my core.ini
file:

alternate_ip_addr_lookup=1

What's a cable modem like? Cabletel (www.cabletel.co.uk) are issuing cable
modems over here but they are 200 a month (1/5 average wage)

Thats like 10 times what we pay here in Canada.
Why the prize gouging over there?

I pay $39.00 cdn a month - probably an average of 2hrs wage for "most"
people. Why so expensive over there, it's not like they have to run
the cable very far  :-)
Speed is great and your always connected. Downloads come it at 150 -
200KBs. I have not hosted a GPL game yet but can connect 10 users in
Quake with no problems or speed loss...
