GPL, Thriller, Modem Problems

by Ed Whit » Mon, 07 Dec 1998 04:00:00

Hi, after installing my new Thriller 8mg video card I got great fps in GPL
and loved the way it looked, but when I attempted to get online I got a
message that said "modem not turned on, in use, or not installed
properly".....if I changed the display adapter back to standard VGA, then
the modem works, but the screen looks like hell....and I want it all, GPL
and a good looking display. Any idea what I should try? TIA, Ed

Which soundcard do you have - I had similar problems with an SB64 & later an
SB Live where I had to disable the Legacy DOS support to make my modem work.

(Also have Thriller)

You could try setting the second internal COM port to COM4 instead of COM2 (in
the BIOS) and set the modem to COM2. This helped me with a simmilar problem.
