Is anyone racing GPL modem to modem?

Does the 1.2 patch make this do-able?

Are there any secrets you can offer to accomplish this?

TIA

Just connect to the Internet like you would normaly and run
winipcfg.exe to see what your IP address is for that session and let
the other person know what it is and then the two of you can connect
and race. One Host the other joins.

Windows 98 has a built-in dialup server.  My friend and I set up the IPX
protocol bound to dialup networking.  He clicks on a menu item in the dialup
networking folder and I dial him.  He has to go back in and uncheck the item
on the menu when we are done or his computer answers all phone calls.

Sorry I don't know the menu options as I don't have DUN installed here at
work, but this should be enough to get you started.

We use this all the time for N3, should work just fine for GPL.

Firstly, you should have GPL 1.1 or 1.2. If your modem is like mine
you should not choose connection speed reported by modem but use e.g.
28800 if you have a 33600 modem. This is because some modems seem to
report wrong connection speed to Windows causing GPL to try to send
more data than is possible (or something like this). Use the same
setting on both machines.

If you still have connection problems you can tweak your modem's
serial port settings:
control panel/system/device manager/modem/properties/connection/port
settings
Set both buffers to lowest or second lowest setting (whichever gives
better connection stability). Note that this affects all your modem
connections. You'll have to change them back if you want better
performance for surfing. Though I haven't noticed much difference
speedwise.
