Good Idea,  due to warping I too have been black flagged, and once when hit
at Monoco I was DQ'd for reversing on track when I was spinning.

Jan, it might be worth having a look in the track.ini file to check
which points the game is looking at for corner cutting. Then maybe you'd
be able to modify your line a bit if you're cutting some of the critical
corners a bit too fine.

If you park at the right distance (maybe "detail bias" has an
influence here) to your name sign, then a message like "wait - jump
start" should appear. When it disappears after 10 seconds or so, you
can go.

When you get a black flag, and you bull back into your pits, how do you
know when it's time to leave the pits again?

The sign in the pits disappear when you can continue the race.

It's a bit irritating when I get blackflagged for reversing on track,
or cutting corners during online races, when it is all due to warping.
Most of the times I get blackflagged I have done nothing wrong. My
impression is that it occurs very often in Mexico. I suspect the
marshals for being corrupt there :-)

Ok, Andy, but what parameters do you look for?

You'll see a stanza like this (this is from the Silverstone file)

[ configuration_0 ]
  ; Format: dlong, start dlat, end dlat, time penalty (sec), 0
(required)
  ; 3 checkpoint minimum
checkpoint_0 = 1426.0  -14.0  14.5 10.0 0       ; prevents cutting Becketts
checkpoint_1 = 2595.0  -15.0  14.5 10.0 0       ; prevents cutting Stowe
checkpoint_2 = 3258.0  -16.0  14.5 10.0 0       ; prevents cutting Club
checkpoint_3 = 4430.0  -12.0  14.5 10.0 0       ; prevents cutting Woodcote

So now you know which corners it's looking at and you can start working
from there.

Ah-ah! Very cool Andy! I guess I'll have to check it out! I never do
this intentionally, but invariably I'll do it accidently when I drop a
wheel off or***my braking up somehow.

Thanks!

Good practice:  in training/qualifying, pull into the pits instead of
pulling over and hitting <esc>.  When you enter the pits, try and stop at
your name card so that it just disappears, when you hit <esc>, you will go
straight to the info screen without being prompted.  This is how you know
you have stopped in your correct spot, and it's the same spot you must stop
in for a pit penalty, then a sign will tell you to wait...and wait...when it
disappears again you can continue with the race.

Yes Mexico and Silverstone seem to be the two tracks where warping or
clock smashing seem to cause black flags, maybe due to the sensitive areas
at each track (chicane at Mexico and inside of final turn at Silverstone),
during the warping it may look to the server like your car cut through
these areas and so you get Black Flagged.

It happened to me last night on a VROC Silverstone race while leading,
I hope this is one multiplayer issue that will be resolved by the upcoming
GPL patch, maybe they can make these areas of these two tracks less
sensitive to Black Flags, still GPL online racing is leaps and bounds
above any other online racing I've done, I guess everything has to have it's
small glitches.

Seeyas on the track.

Any idea when this patch will be released?

I haven't heard anything on a date for the patch, I think that's good
that they haven't given a date, based on Papyrus' past history on
patching their titles (they don't do many versions of patches on the same
title) it's better to get a *complete* patch than something rushed to make
an announced release date, besides IMHO there's no real serious bugs in GPL
that make it unplayable for me until a patch, more like a few glitches that
smudge an otherwise almost perfect game.

Seeyas on the track.

Yes, but the problem I mentioned is that on online races you might get
blackflagged for reversing on track or cutting corners even if you
don't do anything wrong.

Or better yet, you can edit your lap times in your driver.ini file and
then yell, "Look mommy, I just drove a 1:03.52 at Watkins Glen!"
