What do you think about The Need for Speed: 'High Stakes'?

Is this basically NFS 4?

The graphics look astonishingly real!

Can't wait for a demo!

The driving model is much better this year, more of a "sim" than arcade
game.  The tournament mode is excellent.  There are 17 tourneys and special
events to enter.  Most require certain vehicles.  Winning the tourneys opens
new special events and vice-versa.  There are 12 tracks, including three
raceways (not ovals).
Alot of the user options have been removed from the PSX version, such as
default driving views, rear-view mirrors, vehicle setups, etc.  Hopefully
they'll fix it for the PC version.

As a simulator fan, I would probably prefer this one. The reason I didn't
buy TNFS 3 is because it was purely an arcade machine.

What about damage effects?

The body of the vehicle does not deform, but the texturing changes, so it'll
appear damaged.  The damage is punitive, however.  The car will pull to one
side, or the wheel will scrape in a tight turn.  You can knock out
headlights, as well.  The repair bills can be quite painful at times!

Sounds great.
